Tickhill Today as seen by 14–18 year old Young People

What is it like being a young person in Tickhill in 2007 and what would you imagine would make your grandchildren, 50 years from now, say “Is that really what it was like 50 years ago?- Amazing!” ??

The explorer Scout Group in Tickhill are carrying out a project to describe what it is like being a young person in Tickhill in this first part of the 21st century.

They are helping the Local History Society to create a record of life today in order to create continuity between Tickhill’s past, its present and its future.

To stimulate their thinking about the way in which things change, Kevin Welborn gave an introductory slide show with images of the past (taken from the Historical Society’s website) and images of the future which he had brought back from the year 2057 which he had visited with the aid of Dr Who’s Tardis!

Examples of the actual pictures brought back are shown below - the Buttercross in the year 2057 and the Super-highway (the SM 630) linking Tickhill and Wadworth (you can see the skyscrapers of Wadworth in the background)

In order to create their record of Tickhill in 2007 the Explorer Scouts have taken lots of photographs, and teams have identified several topics including:-

- what I do on a Saturday morning

- what I wear

- what I eat.

- transport

Watch this space for their photographs and comments on Tickhill in 2007 when they publish their work on this website over the coming months.
