George Frederick John Burchby, known throughout his life as Jack
Burchby, wrote most of his newspaper articles for the
Doncaster Chronicle and Worksop Guardian
during the years 1951-1970. After the Doncaster
Chronicle combined with the Doncaster Gazette in
August 1963, Jack focused on writing for the Worksop Guardian.
He pasted the articles in five old maths and chemistry exercise
books which he had used when a pupil at Doncaster Grammar School
in the 1920s: an interesting example of recycling, giving brief
glimpses of many algebra and science exercises as illustrated on
page 5 of the attached Occasional Paper.
The Paper focuses on his articles written
throughout the 1960s.
